DESCRIPTION:

From the moment an advertisement falls out of the bag of kibble into his bowl, Homer begs his people to let him go. In a letter home to his family, readers learn that Homer's a little homesick, but by story's end the campers have adjusted to life in the wild like naturals. From School Library Journal PreS-Gr 2—This picture book debut introduces readers to a cartoon canine who sets his sights on attending Wolf Camp. Pen-and-ink and watercolor illustrations have a comic feel owing to the frequent use of word and thought bubbles and the arrangement of the action on the page, which often appears in borderless panels. VERDICT Adding this fun and engaging selection to picture book collections and storytimes will ensure some happy campers and a howlingly good time.—Samantha Lumetta, Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County, OH . I bought this book for my son due to he has a book with a similar idea that he likes. It's called Wiener Wolf. Anyway, this book is a bit like Wiener Wolf, but has a different plot. A little dog signs up to go to Wolf Camp where he can live like a wolf for a week. That's every dog's dream, right? *Spoiler Alert* At camp the dog makes friends, learns wolf activities aren't always glamorous, and returns home feeling tougher but glad to be a dog. It's a cute story, but the pictures definitely make this book. My 6 year old really liked it, . "DELIGHTFUL STORY, DELIGHTFULLY ILLUSTRATED" according to M. A. Smith. My dog looks just like a wolf (but he's not), his name is Wolfie, and he adored by our family. My youngest grandchild said she wondered what it would be like to be a wolf one day, and that very afternoon I came across this book scouting around for something else. This is a delightful story, even more delightfully illustrated. It's been signed by Wolfie, is wrapped for Christmas and she will love this book for a long time.

. Andrea Zuill’s debut picture book, Wolf Camp, is based on her own dog, Homer, who appeared in a series of comics entitled Urban Wolf. Also a fine artist, she often shows her work in galleries in California, Texas, and New York
