The story goes from the heroine meeting the hero's ex at a theater at the end of one chapter, to the hero and heroine together, him already forgiven and in full knowlege of information that was never explained to him in the start fo the next. It is missing the fight with the ex, the confrontation and resolution between the hero and heroine as well as the heroine explaining about a letter she found to . "Not with a bang, but with a fizzle" according to mandymonkey82. I have loved this series from the beginning, but the author let the story down with this I was disappointed with the last book, but even more so with this one. It could have been -- and should have been -- so much more.. "Disappointing end to the series" according to A. Zeeb. I love Hawkins books and have read most of her historical romances. However, this book was sorely lacking. I had expected that her final book in the Lords of Vice would at least be as good as the others, but this one seemed to missing large chunks. I don't believe that it was the author's fault. Her writing style was the same as in her other books, except for the large chunks of storyline that were missing. There were scenes that something happens and she begins to show what happened, then skipped the scene and the next page is the characters talking or thinking about what had happened in the missing scene.
