I had never heard of this before, so I'm glad I picked up the book. The author does a good job of interweaving two simultaneous , yet apparently unrelated, stories - the explosion of the first atomic bomb and the progress of a routine training flight. The real story, however, takes place afterwards, recording the consequences of those histori. Facinating read Will An excellent account of a needless tragedy. Aside from the awesome experiences of this man and his associates, this book reveals just how little was known about the consequences of an atomic detonation, and the hazards to humanity. While the secrecy of that era was understandable, the neglect of the plight of these men after the war was not.
