What appeared to me as the random adventures of a tramp spaceship and it's eclectic crew has become a rather involved plot concerning the human race surviving its own hubris. A thoroughly enjoyable read with very rare editing issues flaring my OCD. The pace was smooth and the action readable without becoming overy technical or blandly predictable. I believe Mr Gallagher is well on his way to an established car. "Great technical and character display, we'll done" according to old school Broadcast engineer. This author has the nuances of military life. Also the technical stones to write of future tech not yet assembled. Great story line without loosing coherence of charactisation. Fast read smooth flow. Would make great movie.. I love this series I love this series. This book is more in a similar vein from the first - by which I mean it is another series of linked stories involving the spaceship "Fives Full" and her crew. Most of the stories take place in space, some in deep space. There is action, intrigue, romance, secrets, enough technical explanation to not seem very "hand waving", but not so much as to be boring.
