This Book Will Ruin You. In The Best Way. I knew I liked Hieu's work because I'd seen his perform live a few times, and he always is one of the most powerfully quiet poets in the room. I knew that I'd like this book when I picked it up because I'd seen Hieu's work in magazines like MUZZLE before. But after reading it (and missing my subway stop because I was so pulled in) I have to say I had no idea the book would be THIS GOOD. I am shocked that this is Hieu's debut collection and not the work of a much more sea. "This is easily one of the best books of poetry i've ever" according to samuel sax. This is easily one of the best books of poetry i've ever read. Gorgeously scaffolded and executed,heart wrenching and humorous, it takes you from rot-gut to the balustrades.
