Pretty pictures - No substance This book seems pretty typical of the collector books I've seen pertaining to cigarette lighters. As the review says, 'This book is an eye-catching tribute'. Unfortunately, that's all it is; it is completely lacking in any other regard.It gives prices for the various items. And, of course, prices are subject to change quickly. Add to that the fact that the book was published pre-eBay and the prices have little resemblance to reality today. This is pretty much a fact of life for any book relying on giving value. decent guide to lighters D. Lowery I bought this book for the history of the Evans Manufacturing company, and it was a great read. However, I am a collector of Evans compacts, and this book gave that topic only a small amount of space and only covered late '40s and '50s compacts. There are tons from the late '20s and '30s that could have been featured here as well to make the book worthwhile to me. But the book covers lighters really well, and if I choose to start collecting those, I will study this book hard before I make any choices.. Anthony Jackson said Evans lighters are cool. Bought this book because I had become interested in collecting lighters but I had no idea what I was seeing or what made some lighters so valuable and others nearly valueless. A very good and interesting review of Evans lighters and what makes them unique. But you will need others to understand any other brand. Still I refer to it often and am glad I purchased it.
