Unique, intriguing, and highly recommended Midwest Book Review Even when everything goes right, something goes wrong. "The Energy Caper: Or Nixon in the Sky with Diamonds" is an alternative reality fiction diving into a world where less tragic assassinations occur, Vietnam never happened, and Nixon was not a crook. Out for fame and legacy, Richard Nixon is out to free America from oil dependence, but the solution to the problem is not simple, and has him butting heads with congress to get anything done. Humorous with a spin on the method to con. History made fascinating This book was definitely worth reading. It is a well written history of the "Reefer Madness" era which is interwoven with an insider's view of the culture of the 60's and 70's and and comes out as a fictional account of an alternate reality in which Richard Nixon is reelected and the Vietnam War didn't happen. The characters are full of life and well developed, such as Ginny, a go-go dancer who went to Yale law school and Mulligan, a naval officer assigned to guard the President. Fe. There is a decidedly visual element to Mr. Morrison's writing that makes it come to High Definition life in my mind. For me a good novel is all about a great story, suspenseful plot

Desperate for alternatives to oil, Nixon learns of a plant which produces three times more biomass per acre than corn. The Arab oil embargo is driving the country toward a second Great Depression as motorists line up for hours to buy gasoline at any price. Elected on a pledge to wage an unrelenting "war on drugs," Nixon instead confronts a different kind of war--an energy war. If it were grown for methanol, good old wood alcohol--the same fuel used in Indianapolis racing cars--America could farm its way to energy independence in just five short years. The Energy Caper, or Nixon in the Sky with Diamonds takes you on a merry romp with a band of idealistic twenty-somethings looking for love and
