Excellent survey of the history of the Borgias This is an excellent history of the Borgias and a fast read. I highly recommend it. I learned a lot about Vatican and European history from this book. An interesting perspective asserted by the author (now deceased) is that politics and governance in 15th and 16th century Italian principalities were universally violent and murderous because everyone was acting that way, and so you also had to do it in order to survive this Darwini.
