I love steampunk. This was HIT as a Christmas gift for my adult daughter! I love steampunknot enuf to go whole-hog on it, but it's hilarious in its parody and redrawing of 19th century style machinery. This book is valuable for it's artwork. Caveat emptor Netties Kid Zdenko's "Steampunk" literary classics should come with a huge buyer beware sticker. These are NOT fresh new steampunk takes on classic tales. These are the exact same stories you grew up with. The only thing steampunk about any of them is the artwork.. "The beautiful illustrations work to enhance an already timeless story" according to Kevin. If anything, the mix of digital and photo mediums is distracting. The addition of steampunk elements, primarily consisting of goggles and industrial backgrounds, does not particularly enhance the story. While the text remains true to the original, the steampunk illustrations vary from overly realistic photos of characters to frightening, seemingly digitally manipulated images, like Marley's ghost.
