This book was the first in a series of about eight books I read in a single month on religion and theology. The purpose of my reading such an extensive list in a short amount of time was for me to be drawn closer to God through inspirational reading. "A Repentant Friend--freed by Grace" according to Amazon Customer. interesting and hopeful read especially in our age of slavery to sexual addictions. Some penance, more moderate than hers, would do honor to human dignity.. a saint for our times John Loranger Hugh Feiss and Ronald Pepin are owed a debt of gratitude for this work. Mary of Egypt is a saint for our times and here is a book that presents her story in a manner that is both enjoyable and scholarly. Among the three "Lives" presented, I liked Hildebert of Lavardin's "Life of Saint Mary of Egypt" the most. But the entire book deserves a close study.
