"Widening the Scope of Approaching the Word" according to Eric Robinson. An excellent study and an excellent way of approaching Scripture. Poythress is brilliant and his challenge to scholarship to widen its scope, as a whole, to include more than historical-critical analysis of God's Word is well overdue. Even with what might be considered tedious elaboration to some at times, I highly recommend this book to any serious student of Scripture. Poythress' typological perspective (and his emphasis on "perspectives" rather than "methods" for evaluating Scripture i. The author states that the approach of his writing is geared to be more simple in the early part of the book and then graduating to more and more complexity as you read further in the book. I do have to admit that the author does really go into great depths as to different methods of reading and interpreting the Bible can be done. With that said, yes, the early . A very good about biblical interpretation. A wonderful book written by Vern S. Poythress, ideal for all seminary student or layman who wants to learn more about biblical interpretation. The book is divided into eight parts, in which the author takes us from the simple to the complex on the interpretation. Everything is explained in an excellent manner, also the author provides us many examples.For those who have read about the tri-perspectivism John Frame, the book will make very familiar, but for those who are new to the tri-pers
