A. McCallum said Not as good as the first. Overall kind of a disappointing continuation of the excellent story that was begun in My Side of the Mountain. I felt this one dragged a bit and my kids didn't seem as engaged or interested as they were in the first one. The main plot points felt a bit contrived, like they were just there to come back to at intervals to meet the requirements of a story. At points very interesting, it just fell flat as a full book.. "Couldn't Find This In the Bookstore" according to Amazon Customer. We LOVED the first book and could never find this "sequel" at the bookstore. We have not jumped into it yet, but we can't wait to reconnect with Sam and all his friends.. Kids love this The kid's love this
