I mentioned that I read Dies the Fire maybe a decade ago and a friend asked if I had read this, I admitted I had never even heard of it even though it was written before.This is one of those that like the Flux Capacitor you don't really ask how or why, you just go with it. The point is not why but what are the im. Alternate History at it's best Alexander Pope This story covers many different areas. Not only do we see a pre-history of England, we get to see politics, industry , and war. It all starts in a deeply impossible event throwing a small New England island back in time to 1250 B.C and then what follows is a believable story detailing how those individuals would service in that "new world". The greatest threat they face is the ambitions of one of their own people.. too much sexual violence - I did not get past too much sexual violence - I did not get past chapter two because of it. returned the audio version. I read/listen mostly in evening to relax before going to sleep so explicit violence is not what I'm looking for in a book. Otherwise the story was interesting.(from the short amount I read)I should have read the amazon reviews more carefully for the heads-up.
