DESCRIPTION:

For just over a year, she and her husband Martin, a missionary pilot, lived with their captors and a variety of other hostages in the Philippine jungle. At one point, Martin boldly refers to all the bad things the captors have done to the hostages, only to have one of them look at him quizzically and claim he has never done any harm to the hostages. In a botched rescue attempt, the Philippine army shot and killed Martin Burnham and Ediborah Yap, a nurse who was the other remaining hostage. Worth the read. Brittany G I'm generally a fiction fan, but this book had me within the first few pages. Gracia did an amazing job putting down the ordeal she and her husband went through. My heart was wrenched, it was pulled, it raced. I cried for them, and prayed for their well-being. I refrained from researching the story or its outcome until I had finished the book.Such a great story, I only wish it was just a story. But I can see how this book can help a lot of people put their views into perspective, as well as show the strength you are capable of - which I'm sure . A love story for sure So well written and so inspirational. A love story for sure. I remember praying for this couple after I saw a news report of them prior to the rescue. I kept them in my prayers for so long, and then one evening a ticker came across the bottom of my TV that Gracia had been rescued but Martin didn't make it. I burst into tears and cried and cried for this beautiful couple. Gracia's book is so beautifully written, and her love for Christ is so profound, that it is a message to all of us, that bad things happen to good people, but God is always the. "In the presence my enemies" according to Kindle Customer. Although I felt so sad for all the Horrors this couple had to go through I really enjoyed the book I also learned a lot about the Muslim religion although I have to admit I cannot see how they can think the way they do about another human being. Surely Christianity is the only answer.
