It was so satisfying to get more of Charlotte and Edward, and Lord Danby and Miranda were quite the couple. The historical bits and pieces were just right, especially the descriptions of the austere butler (shades of Mr. Carson from Downtown Abbey?), and the motor car, and of course the amazing estate in which Charlotte and Edward live. I was expecting to really dislike Miranda after what happened in the first book, but Maggie gave the character more depth and emotion so I ended up rooting for her and Walter. Of course, she did deserve everything she had coming to her, but so did Charlotte. (Never lie to a husband who wields a cane.) Erotic and sensual, this
