DESCRIPTION:

"The "bible" of physical therapy" according to Thomas Paul. Children with Down syndrome often have low muscle tone (hypotonia) and increased flexibility which can affect overall gross motor development. There are many issues that parents need to be aware of if their child has hypotonia. Even the way you hold your baby can affect his gross motor development. This book shows how to encourage and maximize a child's gross motor development - head control, rolling, sitting, cruising, walking, kicking, jumping - from infancy to age six. Pat W. "Our favorite in the series" according to Amazon Customer. I purchased all of the Woodbine books for children with Down Syndrome. I must say this is the one that I have used most often. My daughter with Down Syndrome is now 2 and this book has been an extremely good source of info. I have kept it handy the past two years and always find myself referring to it. I now have a newborn baby (who does not have DS), and I find myself referring back to the early chapters again to get ideas of ways to help his development. Great book I definite. Brigette Parsons said Wonderful Book. My daughter has Down Syndrome and I got this book upon recomendation by a physical therapist. I would recommend this book to every parent who is interested in participating in early intervention for their down syndrome child. The book is written very well for the lay person. For those of you with children who have down syndrome, it's a tough and wonderful road and god bless you!
