Be warned--You'll be reading long after bedtime! Ms. Iyer, one of my favorite writers, continues to write layered, compelling stories filled with colorful characters and twists that keep you guessing until the end. There are scenes in Goddess of the Moon where I literally held my breath. When Diana Racine, the psychic from Mind Games, and her lover New Orleans police detective Ernie Lucier are drawn into a baby kidnapping case, they run into a fascinating group of people. The characters are developed with skill an. Okay, but --- I could only manage three stars with this second novel by Polly Iyer. Generally, writing is good, the plot had some nice twists, and as with the previous book the setting primarily in NOLA kept me interested. I liked the first book enough to try this second one. However, after the female character began her TSTL actions (as in the first novel), I simply fast read through the rest of the novel. I really wanted to like the book and give it a good review.
