A very useful resource! I used this book last year with my 2nd-grade students. My district does not have a writing curriculum, so I was looking for a resource that was aligned to Common Core. This book is full of great lessons, and even comes with a monthly pacing schedule. I recommended it to several colleagues.. "Best writing book I've found so far!" according to bmoyers. I have searched for a good writing book for first grade for a few years now. This is the best one I've ever seen! It starts slowly and very basic to ensure students thoroughly understand how a writing workshop should work. The others in my grade level liked it so much that they are buying copies of their own. :). C. Belcher said At last something practical. I really like this book. It is research based and practical. It has a pacing guide and provides explicit lessons on teaching fundamental kindergarten writing skills that align with the common core. Very useful and user friendly. So much so the other kindergarten teachers in my district are also going to be getting the book.
