DESCRIPTION:

Doctor Grordbort Presents: Victory - Scientific Adventure Violence for Young Men and Literate Women is the year's foremost journal of progressive armaments and weaponry! Behold the latest line of defense captured in action! Filled to the brim with firsthand tales of exploration and progress from the great heroes of our time, picture strips of unimaginable escapades on the frontier, never-seen-before portraits of dazzling damsels and monstrous villains, and laudable accounts of man and robot pitted against our greatest enemy (the uncivilized world), Victory is an onslaught of action-packed scientific adventure in full-spectrum color - containing facts that every boy and literate girl should know.

A Great Addition to the World of Dr. Grordbort Brian Robbins Greg Broadmore is a great artist and this book is proof. A much larger text than the first Grordbort book, this book features two short comics starring Lord Cockswain, a few more inventions (rayguns and tanks) and an introduction to the life of Venus, including the native Venusian "primitives." The book is great fun in that it presents posters and news bits that show just how terrible and racist British colonialism was, while at the same time providing a beautiful and rip-snortingly original world. My only complaint is that some of the material is available on Weta's Grordbort website. I knew some of it. A Must Have for artists Shaun Patterson I am an artist and concept designer and have long been a fan of Greg Broadmore's professional work at Weta, the New Zealand company behind the LOTOR effects and props, district 9 and a slew of other films. This collection of painting, sculpture and concept design is wrapped in a hilarious colonial narrative and is a fun sort of retro future adventure. Lovers of concept design, Art and a steam punk look should definitely check it out.. Not as good as I'd hoped The art is approaching comic book quality. But the art and the stories don't quite get there. Needs a guiding director to make it better. Someone with a more complete vision of this universe. There's just fragmentation. It just as well be travel posters for another world without saying where that world is.Oh and the shipping took forever. I don't actually know where it came from, but it took longer to get here than items I've ordered directly from Thailand. Either the post is just that slow or Thailand is just vastly more awesome.
