Discovering Number Theory w/CD-ROM

Read ^ Discovering Number Theory w/CD-ROM by Jeffrey Holt, John Jones Ê eBook or Kindle ePUB. Discovering Number Theory w/CD-ROM Very awkward textbook, not sure it is necessary for print. Labs are excellent. Alexander R I edited my review and upped the rating substantially. I rated the book low at first because of editing decisions, but I did not think about the fact that the labs themselves are technically part of this book, and they are indeed very good. So, 4 stars for the labs, and really like 2 stars for the printed book - but I wont let that affect the rating since the major piece the authors worked on for this

DESCRIPTION:

Very awkward "textbook", not sure it is necessary for print. Labs are excellent. Alexander R I edited my review and upped the rating substantially. I rated the book low at first because of editing decisions, but I did not think about the fact that the labs themselves are technically "part" of this book, and they are indeed very good. So, 4 stars for the labs, and really like 2 stars for the printed book - but I won't let that affect the rating since the major piece the authors worked on for this is the actual lab. Read the (now edited) original review:Really, I don't understand why this book is in print. The book is structured around a course which is accessed electronically, with Mathematica, Map. "Excellent" according to Gary Bertram. Great condition! Exactly what I needed!

As the title suggests, Discovering Number Theory encourages students to figure out many of the important concepts and theorems of number theory for themselves.  With the help of interactive computer software, students work on research questions before being exposed to the final polished theorems and proofs.  By actively participating in the development of course topics they develop a solid understanding of the material and gain valuable insights into the realities of mathematical research.
