Joel W Adelson said Excellent, useful, practical cases in clinical ethics.. This is an excellent, practical survey of the main areas of clinical ethics. I've used the seventh, and now eighth, edition for the past several years in teaching a course in clinical and research ethics at the University of California, Irvine. The cases are clearly presented, and representative of what physicians really encounter in clinical. This is an excellent resource for those in medical settings. A Customer The authors suggest another method of evaluating ethical dilemmas. They suggest one examine the situation in light of medical indications, patient preferences, quality of life, and contextual features.Because the approach is clinical, rather than theoretical, some of the medical details presented are somewhat technical. This is a book for tho. "Great information" according to Debbie Montalvo. This book is great for all in the medical field to understand the facets of medical decision making and how important is the patient's autonomy. This book points out the different factors and discusses them well.

A fifth printing certainly validates its usefulness, but may beg the question as well, "Is the fifth edition necessary?" The answer is a resounding "Yes." The authors seriously look at the issues in need of updating from its last printing, such as organizational ethics and the section on conflicts of interest. "This book is an extremely useful book in the field of applied clinical ethics. Even public health issues are covered since the terrorist attack of September 11, 2001." "4 stars" (Doody's 2003-01-01)
