DESCRIPTION:

Good standard text book with some surprising omissions mk If you consider buying you might want to add the little "handbook" that goes along with it. This combination works pretty well for review.Overall, most chapters are well written and complete. However, the index is often less than ideal and can make finding a not so outlandish topic like SBE-prophylaxis rather difficult.Should you get this one instead of the big "Miller"? Well, the coverage in Miller is still broader and more complete but at the price of a abundant prose, abundan. A Barash Follower Griggsby Wright, MD In Anesthesiology they say you are either a "Barash Person" or a "Miller Person." It is my personal opinion that Barash does probably the best job at providing content that is relevant and devoid of minutia. All sections contain material that is optimal for reading and assimilation. The text is large, yet it is far from dry. I highly recommend this as "The" backbone text for Anesthesiology!. Outstanding clinical reference Amazon Customer Dr. Barash et. al. have produce a very thorough reference for clincal anesthesia. This book is great because it has the advanced information for understanding concepts of anesthesia without bogging you down with overwhelming research summaries. It is more advanced than Morgan and Mikhail but more understandable and to the point compared with Miller. It is just right.

Adhering to the same easy-to-use format as previous editions, the Fourth Edition of this text provides timely and insightful information into the principles of modern anesthesiology, office-based anesthesia, hazards and safety in the operating room, and the importance of cost-effective testing prior to administration of anesthesia. This comprehensive resource includes new chapters on the hazards of working in the OR, up-to-date information on how to prevent and manage OR fires if they occur, information on the newest guidelines for preoperative preparation including new fasting guidelines, administration of anesthesia for minimally invasive surgical techniques, and drug interactions.
