Clare said Big in its day. I had to contextualise this novel to its era to fully appreciate the impact it had upon society at the time. Fortunately I was a teenager living in Sydney when it occurred and remembered the incoprehensiveness of the act amongst people that someone would shoot another human being for the sake of an inhouse fight amongst club members. Unfortunately due to the violence of 9/11 and other terrorists attacks and the frequency of mass shootings in the US and other countries, we as a society are becoming more exposed t. Interesting, but not deep enough for me. Colin Barrow The book explained the facts around the "Milperra Massacre" well, but it didn't give me anywhere near enough insight to the bikies involved. As a result I finished the book without knowing what really drove any of the bikies to join the gang, why the gang splintered, and what drove the two resultant gangs to war. I felt like a needed to read another book that explained all these things to me.. Terribly written but fascinating subject The world of the 1%s is an intriguing one, whether you agree with their lifestyle or not. The need to belong, assert their own kind of authority and just to rebel against a world that doesn't always get it right is underlined int he pages of this book. I found it difficult to put down, although I did struggle with the way the sentences were structured and often had to re read lines to get the full context. A little frustrating at times.
