"Steve writes about his time in RVN assigned to MACV-SOG" according to 05/11A. Steve writes about his time in RVN assigned to MACV-SOG. This was perhaps the only unit with "cross the fence" authority to conduct combat missions in Laos. MAC-SOG had the highest KIA-WIA ratio of all units in Vietnamalmost 100%. Truly and heroic band of brotherswith many losses along the way. What few people know is John Walton of the Sam Walton Family (Walmart) was an SF medic in MACV-SOG and a recipient of the Silver Star for actions in Laos. SOG Brothers You can tell that it was written by a soldier and not a professional writer and I liked seeing this because I can believe what is written in it. I supplied a lot my SOG brothers with intel when they requested it. I did not believe they should not get the best intel available, so I provided whatever I could find and marked it Secret so they could receive it. I mailed it to them via registered mail and every package was received by the addressed man. Then I was tasked to also work in Hqs SOG Op-80 (Brightlight) from MACV J2. It became an obsessio. Terrible book! Horrible editing. Reading this was painful. It was as if the printer has a few thousand extra commas hanging around that he wanted to get rid of, so they were liberally sprinkled haphazardly throughout the text, whether called for or not. Replete with misspellings and mindless grammatical errors. My advice? If you're going to write a book, have someone with at least a GED review the manuscript first.
