It is not an encyclopedia, like ARRL's "Handbook of Radio Communications" or CRC's "Handbook of Chemistry and Physics," neither of which, ironically, can really be held in the hand.. This book provides a good overview of digital communcation protocols used by amateurs over HF. Due to the development of the part of amateur radio the reference section (ca 2007) is not worth much but a quick search on the internet would provide 'n updated list. Good introduction if your are new to this.
